Aravina Estate Celebrates two Boutique Wine Show trophies - Sydney July 12 2016

Margaret River wine producer Aravina Estate has clinched two trophies at the prestigious Australian and New Zealand Boutique Wine Show 2016.

The Wildwood Ridge Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 and the Single Vineyard Vermentino 2015 took out the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Other White Wines trophies respectively.

The judging team, led by Chairman Huon Hooke sampled 1000 entries from Australia and New Zealand, covering red and white table wines, sparkling and fortified wines. Fifteen trophies were awarded from 16 classes in a successful year for boutique winemakers.

Aravina Estate’s Steve and Hayley Tobin attended the 21st Wine Show Trophy Dinner held last night at Sydney’s Darling Harbour, to accept the awards.

"I am delighted that these two wines have been benchmarked at this major wine event and excelled, particularly in the highly competitive Cabernet class. Both wines have not been shown before, so these trophies again confirm the pre-eminence of the Margaret River wine growing region and are welcome confirmation that we are making trophy winning wines of distinction at Aravina Estate" Steve said.

The Wildwood Ridge Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is made from Aravina’s 30-year-old vines. The wine exhibits great depth and intensity of colour and flavour, from fruit picked at optimal ripeness. Firm textured tannins and quality oak bode well for longevity.

The Single Vineyard Vermentino 2015 is a fresh and youthful wine that displays bosc pear, lemon citrus and subtle floral and spice aromas. The palate is dry and zesty, with a fresh fruit liveliness running through the core of the wine. The wine is released and has a RRP of $32.

Aravina Estate's Wildwood Ridge Reserve Chardonnay 2013 also received a Gold medal at the Show and the Semillon 2014 picked up a Silver medal, rounding off an outstanding set of results.

In another coup, the Aravina Estate Block 4 Chenin Blanc 2014 is in selection for the Six Nations Wine Challenge held each year between Australia, New Zealand, Chile, South Africa, Canada and the USA. This year’s Challenge Chairman and judge representing Australia Huon Hooke, nominated the wine for the competition
