Vintage and the Vines March 01 2017

At this time of year in the Margaret River region there is a hive of activity in the vineyard. Aravina's Chief Winemaker Ryan Aggiss is expecting a bumper harvest and some outstanding wines to come from it:

"Vintage is nearly underway with Chardonnay scheduled for picking in the first week of March. Quality is excellent and the recent run of warm weather has resulted in rapid accumulation of sugar and flavours. We were fortunate enough to missed by the extreme weather events of early February that decimated the Swan Valley and associated grape production areas. Aravina Estate sends our thoughts and best wishes to those growers and wineries affected by those recent events. Its likely Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc will be picked within the next two weeks, with our Rose base also in line for picking in the near future.
Red grape varieties are tracking along fantastically, with flavours and grape health at levels we come to expect from this amazing estate. It will be a busy 6-8 weeks for the estate with all varietals looking to be ripe in quick succession meaning little rest for viticultural or winemaking staff.
Lets hope for a run of warm weather, no rain and slight winds to ensure this will be another amazing season for Aravina Estate."
