Aravina Estate wins gold at the 2015 boutique wine awards July 23 2015

In addition, the 2014 Semillon and 2013 Merlot both received Silver medals in their respective Class.

The Gold medal result is a wonderful follow up to the five trophies the previous vintage was awarded at the 2014 Perth Royal Wine Show.

Winemaker, Jodie Opie said “it further reiterates that the old vineyard planted in 1986 is capable of producing high quality fruit and whilst Gold medal and Trophies can be attributed to modern winemaking, the reality is that it must start in the vineyard.”

The Marketing and Sales Manager, Blair Hill said “it is another super performance from a wine that we know has consistency, power and finesse. The consumer is coming back to Chardonnay as a variety due to the balance and elegance of this style of wine. The Aravina Wildwood Ridge Reserve Chardonnay showcases the best that the northern end of Margaret River has to offer from mature vines.”

The Wildwood Ridge Reserve Chardonnay is 100% Estate grown. The fruit was hand-picked in the early hours of the morning from the low yielding (3.7 t/Ha) Block 3 vineyard and transported directly to the winery.

The bunches were chilled for 24 hours prior to being whole bunch pressed. Post settling, the juice was transferred to barriques with a portion of grape solids. This enhances the creamy and nutty texture of the wine.

Natural fermentation was used on 100% of the French oak barriques. The wine was left to mature on lees to add complexity and texture. The wine spent nine months in oak barriques and puncheons – 60% new with the balance in one-year-old French oak. The wine was blended, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.

The wine is currently released and has an RRP of $45.00. It is available through cellar door and the distributors below.
