2010 Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay Released July 07 2015
After the success of our 2008 Sparkling, we are extremely pleased with our 2010 Vintage. With only half the residual sugar than the 2008, it's an off-dry style that has balance and a great depth of flavour.
The fruit for the 2010 Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay was sourced from the Margaret River wine region. The bunches were carefully hand harvested and the individual fruit parcels were whole-bunch pressed. The individual free run juices were fermented on light solids. Post fermentation and clarification of the resultant base wines were blended to formulate the final blend prior to liqueur de tirage (yeast and sugar addition) for the secondary fermentation in bottle using the traditional method. The wine spent five years ‘on lees’ before being riddled, disgorged and liqueur d’expedition (sugar addition) prior to closure under cork.
Variety: 83% Pinot Noir and 17% Chardonnay.
Alcohol: 12.2% v/v pH: 3.18 Total Acidity: 8.0 Residual Sugar: 14.1g/L
Colour: Pale to medium lemon with a fine bead.
Nose: The nose shows citrus and green apple aromas with yeasty and nutty characters derived from ageing on lees.
Palate: An off-dry palate which combines delicate citrus and red fruits with autolytic complexity, fine mousse and creamy lees characters supported by a fresh acid structure. An elegant sparkling wine with a lingering finish.
Cellaring: Enjoy now or cellar for up to five years.
