Aravina Estate Wins Gold at the 2014 Boutique Wine Awards

Aravina Estate is delighted to announce that its 2013 Premium Chardonnay has been awarded GOLD in Class 6, Chardonnay, Any Vintage, with a score of 55.5 at the 2014 Boutique Wine Awards.

This is a wonderful follow up result to the Silver medal that was awarded at the 2014 Sydney Royal Wine Show earlier in the year.

Winemaker, Jodie Opie said that “it is a fantastic result for Aravina Estate and confirms that the old vineyard that was planted in 1986 is capable of producing super quality fruit.”

The Marketing and Sales Manager, Blair Hill said that “this style of Chardonnay is exactly what the current consumers are enjoying at the moment. The Aravina Premium Chardonnay showcases the best that the northern end of Margaret River has to offer from mature vines.”

The Premium Range Chardonnay is 100% Estate grown. The fruit was hand-picked in the early hours of the morning from the low yielding (3.7 t/Ha) Block 3 vineyard and transported directly to the winery. The bunches were chilled for 24 hours prior to being whole bunch pressed. Post settling, the juice was transferred to barriques with a portion of grape solids. This enhances the creamy and nutty texture of the wine.

Natural fermentation was used on 100% of the French oak barriques. The wine was left to mature on lees to add complexity and texture. The wine spent nine months in oak – 40% new with the balance in one-year-old French oak. The wine was blended, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.

The wine is currently released and has an RRP of $40.00. It is available through cellar door and the distributors below.
